Es geht weiter! I will continue. In English and German. So why English? In fact I am German and my mother tongue is German. Since my last post in June 2011, yes, the one right below this one, a lot has changed, a lot. I hardly ever had any 2 years so full of events. This includes me communicating in English almost every day by now. Although having spend more than a year of my lifetime in English speaking countries, I don't consider myself a good English speaking or writing person. Yet, I figured the language has a few advantages: The target audience is bigger and, I can refrain from using this stupid Denglish (Deutsch + English). Also, around one quarter of the visitors are coming from the USA and not to forget some other non German speaking countries, like Lativa (WTF?) and Poland ;) So it is not a wrong idea to switch to English. Also I may practice it even more, cannot hurt either. Please any native speakers reading this: yes I will do more typos and grammar and my style of writing may not be what you are used to. In addition my vocabulary is kind of limited, so don't expect any literary marvels. Thank you in advance for your patience. If you want to teach me about the proper use of the English language, I am actually very happy to learn more. You can always drop me a message.

So if there is still one of the regular visitors from before - and I knew only very few myself - I want to thank you for reading in the past and continue reading. What has changed since back in 2011? Here a short list of positive and notable events:

So in terms of contents I will not change too much. Still I am a Google fan, I do not like Apple, even though I have an iPhone and an iPad, no kidding, for business reasons. So you can always expect more Google reporting and also some Apple bashing. However, there might be fairly less technical topics. It still interests me, moves me, yet, not as the years before. This is subject to change anytime though. Politics? Yes, some. The rebel inside of me still exists. Yet, sadly he has become much more sarcastic and more accepting, like the rest of me.

Expect more music, even more than before. Lately I have been inspired to look back into the music of my own childhood. I am thankful to this inspiration. Although I never stopped listening to rock music of that time, like Queen or early U2, I kind of not persued the pop music anymore. In the 80s my brother and I had a radio and a cassette player in our room and not a tv, so music was what tv is for the kids of today. Also my parents listened to radio more than now I suppose. For somebody who just started looking into the music of this decade, I am quite familiar with what was at least in the charts. As a big follower of electronic music I am particularly interested in the first synthesizer sounds and songs.

The same inspiration made me look into older movies. Not that I ever refused myself to old movies. I am a fan of many classics, usually they needed to be science fiction or horror, with few exceptions. I watched a few older movies not of my usual genre, not all of them were Hollywood. Slow, with focus on dialogues. Yet so intense and interesting beyond my expectations. Therefore just as with music, I am on a quest, exploring new old things. Surprisingly I have not found many good old German movies. German cinema started outgrowing stupid comedy formats in the 90s, so much later.

Am I on a retro trip? No! Maybe I have become old enough to look at myself differently. That includes looking at me as a child, at the time back then. I wish I could travel back in time to the late 70s or 80s, to visit my younger self, but more, to experience the past with the eyes and the mind of the future.

Wie gut, zwei PSN-Accounts angelegt zu haben. Zwar verdoppelt das die Wahrscheinlichkeit, dass meine Daten entwendet wurden, allerdings kann ich so das Welcome Back - Programm auch zweimal in Anspruch nehmen und somit 4 Spiele abgreifen. Dead Nation habe ich schon, ebenso LBP. Deswegen habe ich mir Infamous gedownloadet, das gibt es natürlich nicht in DE, sondern im US-PSN. Wipeout HD wird es wohl auch werden. Aber sonst? Die Auswahl hätte ruhig etwas üppiger ausfallen dürfen... *jammeraufhohemniveau*

Irak und Libyen im Vergleich

Vorweg: Ich bin mir unsicher ob ich als Pazifist den Einsatz der Franzosen, Briten und Amerikaner gegen Ziele in Libyen befürworten soll, oder nicht. Einerseits gibt es - jedenfalls wenn ich den Medien Glauben schenken darf - eine aktive Revolutionsbewegung, die brutal von einem wirren Diktator niedergeschlagen wird. Andererseits kann es auch einfach sein, dass der Westen diesen Konflikt nicht versteht und durch sein Eingreifen die Situation sogar verschlimmert.

Wie auch immer, was ich nicht nachvollziehen kann ist die Kanzlerin Merkel. Jüngst macht sie eine 180 Grad Kehrtwende in Sachen Atompolitik, die irrationalen Ängste der Kernkraftgegner von gestern scheinen urplötzlich unsere promovierte Physikerin eingeholt zu haben. Wer soll diesen unerwarteten und völlig inkonsequenten Kurswechsel noch glauben, dieser der bisherigen CDU-Politik diametral gegenüberstehenden neuen Anti-Kernkraft Position? Die positiven Seiteneffekte sind vielleicht - und ich glaube noch nicht daran - ein finales Umdenken in der Energiepolitik unter Beteiligung der schwarz-gelben Verlängerungskoalition. Vielmehr stört mich diese Inkonsequenz in Sachen Libyen verglichen zum Irak in 2003. Damals wetterte Merkel gegen die Kriegsverweigerer Schröder und Fischer, die dem offensichtlich unsinnigen Feldzug gegen das Saddam-Regime nichts abgewinnen konnten und deutsche Beteiligung ausschlossen. Damals wie heute ein politischer Fauxpas war Merkels Besuch bei Präsident Bush, bei dem sie sich als Oppositionsführerin für die deutsche Haltung förmlich entschuldigte. Ihr Artikel in der Washington Post hätte imho ihre politische Karriere eigentlich beenden sollen. Eine nie dagewesene Arschkriecherei!

Wer kann mir erklären, warum sie damals einen völlig unsinnigen und ungerechtfertigten Angriffskrieg unterstützte und den Krieg gegen Libyen nicht? Ich meine, 2003 war Saddam am Arsch. Er war international isoliert, von Sanktionen, die sogar schon die Zivilbevölkerung trafen, geschwächt und er hatte gegenüber allen internationalen Inspektionen die Hosen runtergelassen. Da war nichts mehr als der Schatten eines kurz zuvor vom Westen unterstützten Feldherren. Sogar eine Flugverbotszone war aktiv und verhinderte mögliche Vergeltungsschläge gegen die eigene Bevölkerung im Norden und Süden des Iraks. Damals aber wollte Merkel Krieg führen. Heute in Libyen, direkt an der Südgrenze Europas werden Zivilisten massakriert und Merkel will nicht aktiv eingreifen? Wer soll das noch verstehen?
